2023 Ice Storm Cleanup Continues...

Since the ice storm this past February of 2023 many neighbors in the Dripping Springs area are still struggling to cleanup and remedy the down tree limbs all over their property both great and small. On Saturday, June 3rd Hometown Missions and 16 volunteers helped a neighbor in need of a yard and tree cleanup in the Sunset Canyon South neighborhood. A single mom caring for a young adult autistic child just needed a hand with a lot of downed limbs and yard maintenance. We were happy to partner with the Dripping Spring Young Mens Service League and other volunteers that answered the call.

A 40ft dumpster was delivered, and after 4.5 hours, with packing from a volunteer knowledgeable with a skid steer, the property was cleaned up, mowed both front and back, and a grateful neighbor was excited about getting out of the house with her son. Hometown Mission volunteers replaced the battery in her car, the new one was in the back seat, and really made a difference in removing physical barriers to her isolation.  Her restored sense of community and tears of joy after completion of the service day was a blessing indeed!
