
Since 2010, Hometown Missions has assisted dozens of families in the DSISD with housing. You don't have to travel far to join a mission of helping those in need. Read about some of Hometown Missions' projects and see how we serve our community with the help of local volunteers.
From demolishing to securing new homes to renovating, from replacing floors to fixing leaky roofs, we’ve done a full range of activities to ensure our neighbors live in safe, healthy housing.

At Hometown Missions, we believe that no project is too small when it comes to improving lives and ensuring our neighbors feel safe and supported. Our February 15th Service Day was a shining example of what happens when dedicated volunteers come together with a shared purpose.

On Saturday morning July 27th, a group of Hometown Missions volunteers met out at Marsh Cramer’s home, out near Henly, to help a neighbor in need. Marsha had reached out to Hometown Missions for some assistance with the hail damaged roof over her enclosed porch.
In an inspiring display of community spirit, Dripping Springs Hometown Missions rallied to support Manny Hernandez, affectionately known as "Mr. Panda," to complete a much-needed roll-in shower after an accident impacted his mobility. Huge thanks to The Friends Foundation, Mighty Mike Plumbing, Sun Tile Corporation, and St. Vincent de Paul for their incredible support and partnership. Together, we are proud to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors.
Hometown Missions was contacted by a family member asking for help with tree limbs still on top of Roy and Zulema Cordova’s home. Volunteers took on the challenge with skills and a lot of prayers to help this well-known and longtime Dripping Springs couple.
Hometown Missions, the DS Lions Club, and Dripping Springs Elite all worked together to build a ramp for two long time Dripping Springs residents. Over a couple of very warm days these volunteers provided a safe and secure ramp for a family in need and one of whom has been housebound since February.
Hometown Missions volunteers and the Young Men’s Service League stepped up on June 3rd to help a neighbor in need. A single Mom caring for a young adult autistic child just needed some help with extensive damage to trees surrounding their home.
Hometown Missions, in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity and the Dripping Springs community, is thrilled to share the inspiring story of Sarah, a resilient woman who is experiencing a remarkable transformation in her life thanks to their collective efforts.
Sarah's story began in the fall of 2022 when Hometown Missions was contacted by a caring individual that knew her and her difficult living conditions.
After the recent ice storm an old friend of Hometown Missions, Margaret Sprouse reached out for some help. The limbs over her home had damaged the roof and opened a hole into her bedroom. Hometown handled the repairs and then organized a tree remediation service day with the Men’s Group of Austin Ridge Bible Church. A lovely day of service!
Longtime Dripping Springs resident Sonya Massey had been praying for an answer to the unsafe wheelchair ramp at the front door of her home. Sonya had fallen several times when navigating it in her motorized chair. Hometown Missions knocked on Sonya’s door after noticing the existing ramp and asked if they could build her a new safe wheelchair ramp. Along with impassioned volunteers, Hometown Missions constructed a ramp that best served her needs.
After several years of hospitalizations and recovery the Appleman’s needed assistance with an ADA bathroom and closet. Bob and Penny’s hardship was the result of extraordinary medical expenses after Bob’s health setbacks from having both legs amputated below the knees. Hometown Missions gladly accepted this project to help these longtime residents of the Dripping Springs area.
A long-term Dripping Springs couple had a home urgently needing to be ADA compliant. Victor was on dialysis and couldn’t physically navigate their home easily. The bedroom and bathroom were not functional for him. Minga recently had surgery and was recovering. Hometown Missions happily took on the project of making their house accessible and safe for Victor and Minga to thrive in.
Our Fall 2018 project focused on a family with three children living in a home that’s frankly causing health problems for everyone in the house. In early November, we demolished this three-generation family residence and moved a mobile home on to their property.
A local senior couple who live in the North 40 (near DS United Methodist Church) have a mobile home in desperate need of new siding. The husband is on dialysis and can't physically do this type of work. His wife has several jobs and is a hard worker. They saved up enough money to buy the siding, but recently had to dip into that fund for some unexpected medical bills.
